Business Outreach

In early 2009, Valis Associates assisted White House staffers in developing a mission statement and plan for the new Obama Office of Public Engagement (OPE), formerly the Office of Public Liaison (OPL), in which Valis worked under President Reagan and helped create under President Ford. Valis clients and coalition members continue to meet with Obama staff.

The White House and the Trade Association community

Valis, an expert coalition builder, brought the senior association leaders of the Trade Association Liaison Council (TALC) to meet with Elizabeth Vale, Director of the White House Business Council to determine areas of mutual interest and to discuss the President’s promise of transparency, openness and accountability. Valis coalition members and clients continue to meet with senior Obama officials throughout his Administration on a wide variety of issues.

Credit Availability for Small Business

Discussing concrete ways of improving access to credit for small businesses, in order to create American jobs, Valis clients and coalition members meet with Commerce Gary Locke, the White House Business Council, Senior Treasury Department Officials, and Small Business Administrator Karen Mills and her staff.

The Obama Administration and the Federal Regulatory System

The Regulatory Improvement Council (RIC) has a more than 20 year track record of successfully helping to shape the federal regulatory system. RIC continues to meet and collaborate with the White House Office of Management and Budget and its Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. Most recently, RIC has conducted successful programs with Cass Sunstein, Administrator of OIRA at OMB; Bob Perciasepe, Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, with the Mercatus Center at George Mason, and with Susan Dudley, former OIRA Director and founder of the new Regulatory Studies Department at George Washington University. RIC promotes worker health and safety, and federal regulations based on sound science, cost-benefit analysis and peer review.

Education Policy

Valis builds mutually beneficial relationships between business leaders and the education community. The National Education Association, a Valis client, has reached out to build bridges to American business, seeking new perspectives and viewpoints in order to create a public education system that provides a great public school for every student.

Magna Carta

Signed on June 15, 1215 by King John of England, the Magna Carta is the foundational document of Anglo-American law and human rights. Magna Carta was the first document to both limit a monarch’s power and to guarantee such essential human rights as: trial by jury; no taxes without representation; the earliest women’s rights; and habeas corpus. The Valis team works with the owners of Magna Carta (Lincoln Cathedral in Lincolnshire, England) to organize a series of exhibits featuring the Magna Carta, in order to educate Americans about the roots of our liberties.

Renewable Energy Project in Jamaica

Valis Associates assists Alliance Federated Energy (AFE) in promoting a 21st century, green waste-to-energy technology for the government and people of Jamaica. When completed, the process will help solve the island nation’s interconnected challenges of waste disposal, energy production, and environmental renewal.
